Last month, we had the pleasure of exhibiting at the DVD Show, a hugely valuable experience that offered a platform to connect with key figures in the defence sector and explore the needs of a forward-thinking armed forces. As an SME operating in a highly competitive arena dominated by large players, these events are a crucial opportunity to make our voice heard, share our solutions and build meaningful connections with industry decision makers and potential partners.
Demonstrating Rugged Reliability
One of the highlights of our presence was a live demonstration showcasing the rugged capabilities of our LUMINATM expanded beam range. This was more than just a crowd pleaser – it was an impressive visual showcase, demonstrating the ability of our solutions to meet the real-world demands of operating in harsh environments. Several conversations were sparked by the sight of tubs of mud and water on our stand and our team were more than happy to dive in and get their hands dirty whilst explaining their significance!

Anyone with any experience of traditional fibre optics knows how susceptible standard connectors are to dirt, dust and vibration – even the slightest spec could disrupt the path of light, leading to signal degradation or failure. Our LUMINATM range overcomes these challenges by utilising expanded beam lens technology to mitigate the adverse effects of operating in harsh environments. As demonstrated in the video – even if a connector falls into the mud, it can simply be rinsed/wiped off and re-connected.
