As we begin 2023, we are pleased to share with you the three amazing projects that have been selected for our support this month. We really care about making positive impacts wherever we can, to help make the world a better place. Our partnership with B1G1 allows us to do this, but we couldn’t do it without your orders and support.
Providing meals in the world
Food is considered a basic human right and yet globally 1 in 9 people are still going hungry. Supporting this project means we can help provide meals to people all across the world who are in need of nutrition. Your donation will be distributed among various projects providing meals for people across Africa, Asia and North America.
IMPACT SUMMARY
200 Meals to people in the world
74 Music lessons for disadvantaged children
80 Days of access to safe space and support to a child in crisis
Providing music lessons to disadvantaged children
State schools in England alone have seen a 21% decrease in music provision over the last five years and one in five primary school teachers report there is no regular music lesson for their class. And this even though it is scientifically proven that music making has a positive influence on the mental resilience and academic outcomes of children and young people. This project provides music lessons for children out of disadvantaged backgrounds to overcome social exclusion and economical disadvantage.
Providing safe spaces and support for children in crisis
This project is managed by the Blue Dragon Children’s foundation and offers safe spaces where kids can learn, play, make friends and grow. Most of the children have experienced severe trauma, so your giving creates a nurturing environment where they can feel safe, listened to and supported whilst offering them a chance to regain their confidence and build new lives. The Dragon House is a place where they can play, socialize or also get help from the social workers continuously present, a place where the children can be children.
Children from all over the city come to Dragon House during the day. Some live in extreme poverty with their families, others are survivors of trafficking or former street children who now live in Blue Dragon’s shelters. For many of them, Dragon House is the first place they visit and where they learn about Blue Dragon. They can come to have a shower, eat a free lunch or talk to our social workers before they accept our support. In this space, children can forget about all their worries. Some choose to read a book from the library, others pick up a board game and challenge their friends, other kids draw and paint while some prefer playing table tennis or even creating hip hop choreographies. In this space, the children can do what they love and focus on learning and having fun with their friends, as all children should.
